Kangaroo mother care Clinical implementation guideline 2016
These Kangaroo Mother Care Clinical Implementation Guidelines describe the Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) method for care of stable preterm and low birth weight babies and give recommendations on the steps and standards on how to introduce, organize and carry out KMC at health facilities. The guidelines are largely adapted from the WHO’s “Kangaroo Mother Care: A practical guide” and WHO’s “Recommendations on Interventions to Improve Preterm Birth Outcomes” but are also the result of extensive consultation amongst various stakeholders in the country. They are meant for use by policy makers, planners, managers and
health care providers. The guidelines will also be useful to Health workers charged with care of newborns and students in health training institutions.
